Now, I know that men who get caught going pee outside are put on the sex offender list, but I had no clue that if you attempted kidnapping of a minor or interference with custody of children, you go on the list as well.
Megan’s Law created the sex offender list.
The board of sex offenders is responsible for determining if a convicted sex offender meets the definition of a sexually violent predator or pose the highest risk for re-offending. These boards are on board with lawmakers plans to introduce legislation that only individuals convicted of sexually motivated crimes to register as sex offenders.
If someone interference with custody of children, they are going on the sex offender list.
Not clear on this one, but if a grandparent interferes will custody they go on the list? Not sure how this works, but if that happened it would be kidnapping. A noncustodial parent convicted of violating a court order or otherwise improperly taking their own children has been added to the list. This is a crime that carries a 15-year mandatory sex offender registration obligation. The Adam Walsh Act provides parents and legal guardians of victim children registration exemptions for three of the four offenses, but not for interference with custody of children
The kidnapping of a minor or attempted kidnapping of a minor.
Some parents or relatives will kidnap a child who is in the foster care system because it is corrupt, and children are being sold by the state for money. Yes, Human Trafficking is going on by CPS workers as well. Hearing more and more about that all the time.
Other crimes that people commit that have nothing to do with sex are added to the list.
Individuals convicted of false imprisonment or an unlawful restraint. If you are falsely imprisoned, why would a person be on this list? It would ruin their lives and they would be kept from jobs, housing, and government assistance. Why would the state need to track those noncriminals?
If you are a noncustodial parent being convicted of this law, you do have a remedy to use.
Gov. Tom Wolf of Pennsylvania signed the Stop-Gap to help those being victimized by the law. You can research this law and hopefully use it to get you off the list.
When laws are made they really need to look into the future on how these laws can be mishandled and the wrong person ending up being a victim and put in safeguards when it does the opposite of what it was meant for.
